Fordmods originated as a website aimed at publishing Technical Documents by Matti Jones (xyphoid) for modifying EF/EL Falcons. Over the years it has evolved into an active on-line community, but we still pride ourselves on our vast library of Technical Documents; this is where we ask you for your help! If you have a good idea for a new Technical Document or you wish to update/enhance an existing document, why not share it with the Fordmods community? In return you will receive a "Technical Contributor" avatar title and be recognised as a valued Fordmods member.
If you haven't already done so, please have a look at our current Technical Document Library to get a grasp of what we're looking for: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/doc_menu.php We have also dedicated a Forum for people to make suggestions or to ask for feedback from other members on Documents they would like to see: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=38 So, you're ready to become a world-famous Fordmods Technical Contributor? It's easy, but there are a few guidelines you need to follow if you wish to submit a new Document: All Documents must be submitted in MS Word format. Things which should be included are; Intro You should include a summary describing the scope of work, and desired outcomes. Also include required parts, tools and an approximate time to complete the job. Body An ordered list is the best way to document your processes. Be sure to explain all steps required to remove parts, do the required work and re-fit parts. If anything is outside of the scope of this document, but is covered in existing Fordmods documents, don’t be afraid to link to them. Example: Step 1) Do this [Insert Appropriate Photo/s] Step 2) Do that [Insert Appropriate Photo/s] Step 3) Do something else [Insert Appropriate Photo/s] Photos The most important part of a Technical Document is the images! They should be taken so they show as much information as possible for the reader. Remember the reader is using your document because they aren't quite sure of how to accomplish the task at hand. When people get stuck, they will refer to a visual reference for help, so make your images count! Summary Depending on the Document, there may be appropriate testing and/or common issues and troubleshooting. Include as much detail as possible to help the reader ---- Please see the following links for examples of existing documents: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=21 http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=84 http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=72 http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=71 Once you are satisfied with your document, it’s ready to be submitted to Happy for final formatting and approval. Note: Posting a technical document in the forums doesn't count toward being a "Technical Contributor". Your Document must be submitted to Happy in the method described above to techdocs@members.fordmods.com
