just a quick question. I have seen a lot of these threads about the I6 are the components used the same as what would be needed for an EL V8. Just that the pins on the ECU are different? In other words are the above diagrams correct for an EL V8 except for the ECU wiring? If so anyone know the correct pins?

Im currently looking into this and i am sure that there MAY be different pin but over all i think its different got resistors. I hope to have the thing updated so that all EF/EL's V8's or i6's can go by the doco. I have also made someother improvements to the over all design with two LED's to tell you if the shift kit is either on or off. Currently this has been added to the bottom of the doco.

Here is the a basic diagram for the LED warning. This is from the other thread but there was an error. They had the LED looped so basically both poles on the LED were going to the power.
You will be able to see power goes into the DPDT in the middle pole. Then you have the green and red LED's off the end poles. The other pin on the LEDs will connect to each other and go to negative or ground. I am planning taking the accessories power supply from the radio. That way the power is only on when the accessories are on. The LED wont drain enough power to drain the battery but still.

The LED's would need to be 12v ones standard ones will blow without a resistor in series..

You can not buy a LED that is 12V and will NO flash. So ill have to use a resistor on each of the LED's. Another note: Can someone please tell me what Pot i can use in replacement of the 5.6ohm resistor (e.g. Jaycar part number)? I went to jaycar to get all the parts and of course they didnt have a 5.6ohm 10 watt resistor. So ill go to the city jaycar today.

I am using a 3 pole 4 position rotary switch and individual resistors. I have not constructed it or tested it as yet.

you'll need a bezel to mount leds somewhere

look the pot up on the jaycar site. its the only 5 ohm pot they have. i think it needs a 1 ohm 10w to go with i think. just needs that little bit more

Cool. Just had a look and am still unsure. Have you got the part numbers for the two?
