Will an AU VCT head fit on an EL motor? I know I'd need the heard from gasket up and tappet cover down, but it would fit fine right?

If an AU head fits on an EL then Yes I would think seeings as people use an AU head gasket in E series all the time. But you need the AU rocker gear ect....

If you are smartshield and the donar ecu is smartshield then just a trip to ford on a tow truck at the end to get it programmed, if both are smartlock then you are lucky, any other combination will not work. Anyway just need to do what I did and use the BBM output to trigger the VCT.

So in completly simple terms - if you go to a wrecker and find an AU with a VCT head you can rip the head off and put it straight on your e-series and away you go?

I am really interested in the Au ECU into EF senario.

10% fuel consumption improvement is a winner.

I have a dual fuel AU1 ECU and I am thinking of trying it If it is a straight swap.

I have the same ECU that I am intending to install..... one day. Its not a direct swap but it is do-able with some pin swapping.

The AU has true sequential injection not bank fire. this results in a 10% fuel saving.

AFAIK the EF is wired up to suit and the AU having the same coil pack should be very close to an ECU swap.
I just need the full Engine loom diagrams for both and I can start experimenting. In fact since I have a spare EF car. I have the loom to work on. I might have to get a loom from and AU and just fit that instead?

You will at least need the AU MAP sensor as it is different from the E series.

I kick myself for not removing more parts from the AU I got the ECU from. I got the intake manifold and injectors. I should have got the whole head. I have a suspicion it was VCT? But would a factory taxi have been VCT?

The silver service lanes generally were, but I doubt a standard falcon.
It's pretty easy to pick the difference, one has the big red tickford rocker cover with the cam thing sticking out the front and vct on it, the other looks like a standard rcoker like out of say a eb ed.

I have a vct ecu that has the part number WR2A-12A650-CD....I removed this from an AU fairmont ghia that had the VCT motor....the final letter (D) has been textered over with the letter E....could this have been a flash revision????

I have queried this ECU part number before and the guy said it wasnt a VCT ecu, could it have been reflashed to become one???? 100% it came from a car with a VCT motor...

I have this for sale if anyone is interested...I also have the loom that goes from the ECU to the engine main plug
