Just want to confirm my suspicions.
Getting a vibration at around 80kph, less at 110kph but noticeable & the drive shaft at the CB can be pulled to one side a good half inch.
So I'm presuming it's cactus ?
Drive shaft should be held firmly centred I'd think !

I've only had the car 3 weeks, first had a buckled wheel to contend with, now even with a new set I still have a drive train vib' at speed.

Hi mate, yes the center of the 2 piece driveshaft is a common problem but once done and under normal driving conditions it works and lasts,it fails and fatigues quicker under spirited driving and more load etc..

Cheers matey.
Been a long time since I've had to deal with a drive shaft/uni so I was second guessing myself.
Never done a BA centre bearing but it's no doubt the issue.
I near fell off my chair when I got a price for one....prices start at $200 & go up from there.
It's no wonder people put this job off & no-one talks about it "openly" LOL

Fleabay sell them for about $30.... scary quality I'm guessing.

Well I'm slowly getting there!
Turns out the centre bearing is fine, however both rear alloys had buckles.

Have put 2 steelies on back & the vibration has almost gone. Still a low hum at speed, 80kph+
I'm hoping it's just the fact the 2 temp wheels have tyres that are old as the car & likely out of balance.

Will be getting more steel rims to replace all alloys & plan to fit some 45 series tyres to them.
Current rims (16") have 60 series tyres.
My goal is simply to avoid future issues with bent alloys, keep the stock suspension ride height but add a bit of grip with some low profile tyres.

My BA always has a hum from 80 to 95 then goes away north of that. Still has it to this day.
It comes on instantly as soon as i hit 80 regardless of gear the car is in. I just live with it. Its a Ford lol.

mine has the hum/whine too. so did the AU, except AU kicked in 'about' 100k's [or became more noticeable  ]

also check to see if there is any play in ya rear hubs/suspension from the bent alloys.

Reassuring to know. Thanks guys.

I have an AUII with beam axle & it has never had this issue. Maybe just those with IRS ?

I checked for play on both hubs, they rotate a smidge until the drivetrain stops it & no excess play in any other parts. No bearing noise either.
The car drives like new, except for that damn vibration @ 80kph & upwards.

I cannot live with a car that vibrates.
Already looking at moving it on. Would like to get another AU but a V8 perhaps.

I..... "may" keep the Barra a bit longer.

Fitted some different steel wheels with balanced tyres. I swear there's still a vibe from the rear but honestly a struggle to notice on anything but perfectly smooth bitumen.
General road noise combined with vehicle noise & background music almost makes me want to enjoy the drive.
Now I should delete the rear muffler so I can actually "hear" the mighty Barra... & that would also do away with any other noise concerns LOL !!
