Hi, has anyone had this happen or know someone who has. Even the dealer is surprised.

How many kms and how do you drive? Now be honest. Far too many people claim "I wasn't driving hard at all" then when they take you for a spin they do everything except for neutral dumps and claim that's how they normally drive.

I'm not jumping to conclusions here, I'm just stating what I have seen first hand.

I think cabbie is onto something. If you abuse something eventually it breaks. You cant blame the car if thats the case.

Well, we haven't had too many of them "blowing up", the OIL cooler problem is killing 4 speed auto's but not as much as they did. Maybe you got a bad build? they are made in Asia.

I thought they were made in France.

Same box Ford fitted to the US Explorers, which have a history of randomly just going bang. Was part of the reason they got the name Exploders.

s**t box though. Does the 3 speed in my old XF proud.

I think it's done about 80,000Kms. It's one of the other guy's car at work. He doesn't drive it hard, but either way, it shouldn't have had a major failure like it did.
And I've just found out that the dealer has just had another one come in with the same problem .
These 5 speed boxes might be lemons.
