Hi, I know this is supposed to be a very stupid question but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere (and yes, I did use the search button!)... There's a lot of conflicting information out there, so I'm a bit lost.
I have a BA ute XLS and bought a set of FG XR6T genuine wheels with tires (245/40) and tried to mount them to the car but the front wheels look like they will rub on the suspension tower... I didn't even finish putting the wheel on because it was touching even before I'd tighten the bolts. The rear fits fine. Is the offset from the BA/BF different to the FG? If so, how different?? I want to order spacers but not sure what size to get... Also, I'm assuming I'd have to use spacers on the rear as well even though they fit, right?! Thanks for any replies! |

Wish I could but they came with tires and all... I know the BA XR8s with optional 18"s came with the 245/40s fitted. Can't understand why it won't fit on the ute...

What wheels are they? Are they staggered fit? Are you putting the rears on the front? I didn't think XR wheels were but i know some FPV rims are. I have 18's with 235/40 on my XLS no worries... 245 are only 10mm wider overall; couldn't see that being a problem. Running 245/35 wouldn't make any difference as the 35 is the height of the sidewalls 35% of 245... And i'm almost 100% sure that AU-FG wheels are all the same offset.

Ute the in first post of this page has FG 19's on it... Sure you had the wheel on hard to the hub?? not tilted in?? Sorry not that i think your talking s**t but i can't see how it could be an issue.. Cheers Paul. |

This is the wheel:
The set came from a FG XR6T, the owner bought a set of forged 19"s and sold me his old set with tires and all. I didn't think of checking if the width of the wheels were different but I loaded them myself on the ute and I didn't notice anything different on the way the tires sat on them. I did put the 2 tires that had more wear on the rear though. |

They are originally BA or BF(??) wheels anyway.. Should fit no worries at all.

That's what I thought... but then they didn't fit so I was wondering the FG series had a different offset to the BA/BF. I read someone saying FGs +38 and BA/BF are +36 but I just can't find a way to confirm that.

True. I guess I'm at that stage where I just want an explanation! I think I might just order some spacers anyway... I'm thinking 5mm all around and see what happens?

Chuck the wheel on, take some photos and post them up... I wouldn't put spacers on, and if 5mm makes the difference then somethings not right.... |

Cool, I'll do that in the morning. Not sure if I'll be able to show the issue properly 'cause it's rubbing on the suspension but I'll give it a go!

Tire, definitely the tire. I noticed 'cause when I put the wheel I spun it with one hand and I could hear the rubber rubbing on something... and then I put my hand and felt it rubbing on the suspension tower (I'm calling it that tonight hahaha). I removed the wheel imediately but I image it will only get worse when I fit the wheel and lower the car.

That bit (whatever it's called) that the hub mounts to... (Waits to be flammed) wont move regardless. |
