I've done bit of research into this car of mine and I was told.by previous owner that transmission is not the original and if I want to properly restore I should look for original. I looked up information online and found out the 3 spd auto transmission for this particular 4.1 ltr 6cyl efi is the bw35-3. Known as the fordomatic possibly. I've tracked down a bw 35 to suit a slant 6 valiant. Would this be the same as Tue original transmission or am I kidding myself.

The Trans your looking for is a BW35 - make sure you get a Ford (Falcon) one. They were also used on the 4 Cyl Sigma, the Centura and a few others, but all have different valving, converters etc. You'll also find that there is at least 2 different kick down cables = one for Carb, one for EFI, and possibly some others for different carbs used over the years

If you currently have a C4 however, then Id hang with that. Its a stronger transmission. Im not 100% sure that it didnt come with any of the 6 cyl XE's either.

Im fairly sure I remember a number of XD's had them
