Hey Folks does this price seem OK as I have me EL booked in for this Repco Auto Service Centre tommorrow. The Mechanic said the basic service they only take out 5 litres of Oil and check and adjust bands and replace gasket etc. But to do a full flush out of the old Oil will cost $300.So I decided to go with the Full flush. Anything I should be aware of in regards to Tranny services, etc. As this is the first one that I have done on my EL in 5 years and she is up to 190000Km now( Bought it at 112000Km). Dont get me wrong she still drives like a dream, if I dont give her too much stick. This is only a precautionary measure mind you

I had a full gearbox flush and filter/gasket replaced for only $100 and that wasnt including the gearbox oil, which is Gulf Western and that was $70.
So i paid $170 all up for mine, i got mine done at a local mechanic down my way. IIRC hes actully a Ford mechanic but started his own business. Is that including the torque converter oil? That should get fulshed as well, if it does then i would say $300 is a good price Just my opinion

I noticed a sign outside a Ford dealership a while back claiming a tranny flush for only $139. I've been toying with the idea of getting mine flushed for a while but want the job done properly. Based on what I've read here it seems a little low for a full flush bit it's also a Ford dealer (which could also mean they're out to screw you...) so I just don't know...

i payed about 300 for a full service and flush, thats the going price, it's about 120 for just the service and thats only a top up of oil, when getting a full flush, it goes through about 15lts of oil

I wasn't trying to imply that all dealers are shonky but there's an old saying: "if it sounds too good to be true then it usually is." $139 for a tranny flush seems like a great deal on the outside but further research seems to indicate that's way too low for the full deal. Now, it could be that, being a dealer, they can offer it at that price but at the same time it could also be a way to suck people in I just don't know. I was kinda hoping someone here might

$150-200 for a tranni service including fluid, filter pan gasket and extension casing seal (if needed). i do my own and all the parts and fluid(5lt) came to $50.
for $300 to replace all the fluid (about 12lt) that would be about $100 for 7lts.... must be pretty good fluid!!!! |

I've had a quote in the high $200s for a full service and fluid flush for my EL. There are apparently more than one filter in these transmissions and the place I got the price from changes them all. Most of the cost I guess is labour.
I've seen cheaper flushes but some places do it by hooking the trans up to some contraption and changing the fluid without even dropping the pan. Pump the new stuff in and force out the old. That's how they get their price down, stuff all labour and no parts.
