a mate of mine has a spare 3.23 ratio diff and he says its an LSD, just wondering how i can tell if it is LSD?? if my memory serve me correctly they have a tag on them dont they?? if there is no tag how else can i tell if it is LSD?? and if i do get it should i take from disc to disc, or do i just need the centre?? at the moment i have a 3.08 single spinner in my falcon...

there should be a metallic looking sticker on the diff housing somewhere, which has the ratio written on it, and as far as i kno if its lsd it will say to use lsd oil? at least wat i can remember reading
ive never heard of a 3.23 lsd, at least not a ford one, but then again thats just me  think mines a 3.23 fairmont single spinner

i was under the impression that the falcon auto i6's (gli, futura etc) got 3.08, manuals, v8s and fairmonts got 3.23, and ghias and xrs got the 3.45 lsd

Get a mate to grab the hub on one side, and you grab the opposite side. Now try to turn it a different way to your mate.
I single spinner will do this with ease, an LSD will be next to impossible to do this to. |

the diff is in an EF fairmont, but he took the 3.08 out and put the 3.23 in... from memory the series 1 XH XR6 utes had a 3.23LSD in them.... although i may be wrong there... also should i take it from disc to disc?? or just the centre?? and how much is it worth?? it is good condition afaik, no clunking or anything...

Well I've never changed diff centres before, so can't comment on ease, but doing a disc-to-disc diff swap isn't as hard as you'd think.
Just do some planning before hand, make sure you got some jacks handy, and away you go.

EF XR8's got 3.23:1, I think they were LSD from memory.

is it a manual? i think the manual xr8s actually got the 3.23, maybe they where lsd??

I HAVE A 90 MODEL FAIRLANE AND A 89 MODEL EA GHIA, THE FAIRLANE IS 3.23 LSD. THE OTHER WAY TO CHECK IF IT IS A LSD, JUST GRAB ONE AXEL AND SEE IF THE OTHER AXEL TURNS WHILE U HOLD THE OTHER. IF U CANT TURN EITHER AXEL WHILE HOLING THE OTHER THEN ITS A LSD.
