Probably depends on what you are looking to do with the car. When i looked at it Mall Wood said to stay with 3.45's unless i was looking at alot of drag/track use or if really wanted to change gears alot. At the end of the day i could not justify the extra money to put a stock t56 into the car they arn't really stronger than one i of his blue printed boxs. They are apparently faster down the 1/4, but it is an expensive way to drop the max of 1/2 a second. I went with his blue printed t5 box and 3.73 gears for half the cost of doing the t56 conversion alone. Give him a call or send him a email he will help you out he really knows his stuff.

blue printed T5 box.... how much did he charge you for that, and what makes it different from the normal T5?
Also you say Mal wood said to not go higher than 3.45 with a T56, but in the other thread he told you to go 3.9's behind the T5? You are aware the T56 ratios are taller than the T5? not doubting you, just wondering why he would give conflicitng advice... TKO 600 it is a race box built to be abbused or if you really want t t56 look for a mew one out of a fg xr6 t or one out of Viper. i think they are t56 6061 or something like that they are stronger they sat a vt t56, which are not as good as a built t5 anyway. It really depends how you drive it and with a t5 the shifter stops are crutial so you don't oer select gears. The weak link in the t5 is 3rd so don't smash 3rd and you will be fine

Look at this site it gives you all the specs on different boxes. Remember these are conservative estimates of power many of the boxes listed have handeled much more than stated

a tko if you know the right people will set you back about $2500- $3000 and will bold straight onto your bellhousing use you shifter position a nd tail shaft. Plus clutc of course, i would go a xr6t clutcj to take adantage of the 10.5 " flywheel, my cussion button, including flywheel and ballencing was under $1000

Like i said it really depends how you dive it i have seen these boxes running 11's behind 5.0L mustangs in the states with only a roller bearing conversion and shifter. I would say if you are really worried and have the money to waste get a t56 but don't expect it to be bullet proof the reality is they have faults too. I would Highly reccomend the TKO 600 They are tough as nails. Ask aroud at good gearbox joints and sum up all the opinions you get and make decision based on that. Just look out for the guys who just want you to get a 6 speed bocause it is the new and cool thing to do!

and don't forget the quality of the box has alot to do with it, obviously a stock box with average km's is not going to like it t5 or t56
