3.9's or 4.11s have about $1000 for a shop to fit and supply the gears. maybe 1200 if you supply the gears that could take ALOT off they often charge alot for the gears eg $400-500 ebay will get ya some for 100-200 and you'd be unlucky to get some in s**t condition...

Well new gears are around 450... and a new LSD hemisphere is 500

so it all depends how cheap you can pickup a second hand set.

I got quoted recently 800-1000 just to upgrade my 3.7 diff to LSD  Cause you need new bearings, plus labour and parts it all adds up

try some smaller places. the ones where the guy who owns it is the guy who works there. they don't have the overheads that a lot of bigger places do. the downside is they sometimes don't have the same buying power but its worth a try.

i converted my 3.9minispool diff to l.s.d. for $550. used some old bloke who worked by himself. most other larger diff/trans type places wanted around $1000.

for an au with the planned mods of cam exhaust and tune would you reckon 3.7's or 3.9's would be the go?

coz the 3.7s would roughly sit on 2360rpm at 110, but i think if given the beans might still drop back to second when doing o/taking at 100ks...

the 3.9s would sit on 2460rpm.

whaddaya guys think? 3.7's or 3.9's????

yeah but your looking at 2600 rpm at 110 km/h, and thats just over my limit of 2500. I wont go any higher than that, so 3.9's are as far as id take it. xr6 mans 1st gear is too short anywhoo... blink and you would miss it.

yeah that sounds right.

but 2600 is nothing, f**k when i do 120kph im sitting on 3000rpm, fuel economy is hardly affected, maybe half a litre per 100km's more fuel.... the car doesnt overheat....

And brings a smile to my face everytime i plant the foot so its well worth it in my opinion
