I own a 1989 ea s pack 5 speed manual, and i was wondering what the diff ratio was in it, as i have my 2.77 LSD diff to put in it out of my old XE. If the ratio is the same then ill defineately swap it, but i dont think its worth stuuping down to a crappy ratio.

you cant even use the center from a 2.77 they dont fit into the 2.92:1 diffs

is there that much of a difference going back to a 2.77? if there isnt a noticeable difference in like take off etc im more then keen to just swap em over. i was just worried that the crappy ratio would have big impacts on the cars accelleration etc

the car would be a dog with a 2.77 in it . they are bad enough with a 2.92 in them.
we have a couple of xr8's coming in next week you could go for one of the 3.27's out of one. |

a 3.23 will make it MUCH more drivable..

BUT over the 1/4 mile, the 3.23 will give you a slower time.

not to mention tyres! ill keep an eye out and see what i can find. i have a set of 3.23s on my desk, but im not sure whether i want to put them in my XE or not? i was thinking i might put 3.5s in the XE and put the 3.23s in the EA.

there is NO 1/4 mile benifit of upgrading to 3.23 over 2.92.
