well i never was sure what the technical term for it is, but i figure since the selector only goes to 3rd its overdrive. And when im doing 100 on the freeway and accelerate it drops back to 3rd id say its a safe bet. Anyone feel free to correct me though this is just my 2c

it's true
ea 3speed is borg warner with 1:1 top gear and 2.92:1 ratio diff.
later 4 speed autos and 5 speed manuals went to 3.23:1 ratio diffs with overdrive top gear.
if you want more poke then you could do a diff swap to 3.23 but will then sit on 3000rpm at 100km
otherwise if it goes hard enough then leave alone.
or you could convert to t5 5 speed manual considering the fact that your car doesn't suffer from having a computer for the auto= straight forward swap wiring.
