it sounds to me like the ecu is doing nothing and may not be wired up properly, a disconnected tps will still change gear but just at odd points

Theres definetely power there I checked that today. I have both the transmission wiring diagrams both infront of me for the last month.

There is a difference from both boxes boxes tho- btr85le has a yellow wire going to pin 29 of the trans ecu, whre as the btr91le has a red wire instead, going to the power relay of the ignition where its getting power.

I belled out all wires today & they are all good. the only thing i had to change the other day was the pin locations of the rectangle 8 pin transmission loom because the old 3 speed reverse lamp & speedo sensor wires were in different spots.

what digrams are u using, because pin 29 is wired the same on EA11 and EB1 - should be yellow and run from tcu to the box

to get the codes, i think u earth the STI, and put a voltmeter or test light across the STO....

im not 100% sure on that at the moment but

WEll i have the wiring for the BTR91LE aswell (EBII) that wirings to the ecu instead. I have it because thats the gearbox im using & afew wires are slightly different colour.

shouldnt matter as long as long as they go to same solenoid

ok il try that tommorow with the test wires and see what it does. Yeah thats what i thought with the solenoids. Its just really got me stuffed atm. Its actually my old mans car & i assured him we could do this conv ersion hassle free and get it back on the road asap thats why its stressing me out!

I remember trying to find this out a long time ago and cant remember if anyone knew at the time or not

oh and make sure your earths are grounded properly or 100% u will blow the TCU

Fault Code Extraction:

1. Ground transmission SELF TEST input lead (orange) on the Diagnostic Connector.
2. Connect a suitable Analogue Multimeter, LED Test Light or Digital Multimeter with
Bar Graph to transmission SELF TEST output lead (green/blue) and Battery Positive.
3. Turn Ignition key on
4. Record codes.

All good now mate! I used the pin out table from the forum & found i had the road speed & tacho wire back to front. THats all it was!

Runs just as it should :) The only thing is pin 4 wired for the air con im not sure where abouts it goes...any ideas.?

Oh and also i dont have the piggy back tps for the kickdown. BUT, for now i wired it up in parallel with the existing ones that go to the ECU & it works funny enough!

SO yeah Im not sure if i should bother changing it now. Would it conflict with anything else using just the one tps? IS there a reason for using 2 tps's with the TCU?

The TS - could work and could not.

The problem is that you have two seperate controllers in two parts of the car. Different Grounds, and more importantly, different Power supply to the TPS. Thats an electrical problem unless one of them is significantly different (say 12 rather than 5v).

Having two TPS's keeps it all seperate. There are a lot of good reasons for it.

The EB II's etc didnt need it as the ECU used a single signal and passed it to both the Engine, and Trans code in the one MicroController
