at a gues u will need diff trans tail shaft computer for trans probably computer for engine then i think you would have to change your entire loom (i think) as the eary 3 speed ea's didnt have the extra wiring to accomidate the 4 speeders. check your loom first on the firewall passenger side see if it has an extra big plug to go to the trans.

transmission of course,,transmission control module,,duel throttle position censor,,wiring loom to suite,,tail shaft.
you'll need to change a lot of wires because you need the ecu for all the censors to work properly. in all honesty in this situation it would be much easier to go for a t5 manual conversion.

someone i spoke to recently said they tried to it but had issues with the gearbox mount...the mounts on the actual floor are different...
so in the end he gave up, said it wasnt possible to change

transmission control module? where is that?
Duel throttle sensor? Didnt know they where different :s WE stripped a EB at the wreckers last wk. Got the Ecu & wiring harness wiring harness. Didnt get the tailshaft cos they looked the same..... I know but my old man wants an auto lazy!

I know but my old man wants an auto lazy! the ea 4 speeds have a transmission control module under the dash near the hand brake, they also have a duel throttle position censor,,one is for the ecu the other is for the transmission. depending on the series eb it may have the single tps as the transmission was controlled from the ecu after the series 1 eb.(iirc) you can use the single tps but you'll need to wire the two plugs together so they both operate.

I think it was either a 92 or 93 model EB. SO if it has the single TPS connection because its controlled by only the ECU does that mean it doesnt havbe the module under the dash?
God this is sounding like its going to be a s**t fight

if it is from a series 2 Eb it will only have one tps. and only one plug and socket.
if it was from a series 1 Eb it will have two tps piggy backed,,IE both together, meaning two plugs and sockets. so long as you have everything from the one vehicle it should be a straight swap, albeit time consuming.

Different mounts? the body should be the same right? had a better look today comparing the wiring harnesses. the EAoes not have the extra round plug for the gearbox. THe EB plug wires though seem to go straight to the ECU so hopefully il get away with just adding these wires to the existing harness instead of replace the full lot.

if he only wants to change for economy, why not think about LPG. Just an idea and not too costly these days, thanks to the government.and no sweating involved.

Yeah well funny that because we are just installing a gas system aswell. the Ea runs at like 2500rpm at 100km so it will also use the gas too. We hav a lsd to put in it 2.9.2 ratio so hopefully that will help also.

Is it CFI or MPFI.
I was going to suggest an MPFI conversion if applicable, but I suppose if you're running gas, it may not be worth the benefits. Otherwise, you should be able to run the existing ECU, and just add the TCM - locate it over near the ECU, as most of the wiring will be there to it, except the econ switch and speed sensor inputs. Buy or borrow the Gregory's EA manual, as it has the 4speed supplement, including wiring diagram.
