As some of you know I have been helping MiniSmurf with his ED Fairmont. He took it today for a rego check (yes finally) and the mech, who we live next door to, said he believed that the sluggishness of the car at takeoff was more than likely a Torque Converter issue.
I spoke with one of our mechs at work who is our resident Auto whiz-kid and he believes it is the S5 solenoid which I thought as well.
The car takes of VERY slowly and you can barely discern the gear changes. I did an Auto oil change plus a new filter and the oil while dirty, didn't have that burned smell auto oil gets sometimes. I was wondering if anyone else here has had a similar experience with a 4 Speed auto?

BTW, from what I can make out, the Auto has been reco'ed OR ???? it is painted a light green colour.

are you sure its changing gear??
if the a solenoid is dead the box should be in limp mode, meaning it will only use gear 3 and reverse..
this could explain the slow acceleration..

I am guessing you are meaning Stutter? Could be Rear or front Eng mount or bush in the extension housing?

yeah :lol:thats what i ment,he's taken it to my uncles work shops and they said that his harmonic balancer was going and that his head gasket has gone but they said that wouldn't cause the stutter
