hey guys. i've just got an EBII with the 4spd auto and i'm wondering how strong they are. i've heard stories about the 3spd autos being much better for towing so i'm wondering what guidelines i should follow for my 4spd.

ie. dont tow in 4th or dont row it thru the gears

also i wanna do the electronic shift kit thing that has been talked about so will this kill the tranny quicker. i remember reading something about quicker shifts are better for the tranny but then everything behind cops it ie. unis and diff. one last thing is limp home mode. what causes this and when it happens is it the end of the world or can it be repaired? will the electronic shift kit trick the box into limp home mode?

thanks
Slabz

Yeah the shift kit will help prolong the life of the gearbox, as there will be less friction and hence less heat caused by the gear changes. Heat is what kills these boxes. Yes the driveline will suffer from the sudden jolts of torque that are now being sent down through the diff etc.

Basically, if you only used it when you're trying to accelerate hard i can't see why you'd run into any dramas after all theres a few people on here that use them without issues

Fit a tranny cooler if your going to tow. No problems towing in 4 gear just take it easy when towing heavy loads.
