Hi guys, have a problem with the Auto Trans in my new EF Futura, seems I'm missing possibly 4th gear, it will cruise along at 60km/hr at roughly 1600RPM and when you change from D to 3 it doesn't change gear but it does from 3 to 2 so at a guess i think its missing 4th.

It shifts nice from 1st to 2nd but from 2nd to 3rd it really thumps in and can actually jolt the car.

Also some more information is that the Speedo is out by roughly 10km/hr it reads 50 on the dash cars doing 60, the diff as I found out today is a 3.08 rear tyres are 225/60/15s

Any help on both would be appreciated

how many rpm does it do at 100km/hr, if it is 3000ish I would say your fourth is gone, but I would be inclined to say that at 60km/hr it doesnt need 4th so it won't use it.

hey have found out what the problem is, there is actually 4th gear, just won't go into it unless your doing 60, but because my speedo gear is wrong or the speedo sender unit is shagged the car thinks its doing 50 when its actually doing 60, this in turn has thrown the shift points out now allowing it to shift into 4th while doing "50" have a different unit to put in with the proper speedo gear will do that possibly tomorrow if I can get the car up high enough to do it.
