Hypothectically speaking (just thinking, noit 100% serious on this) but how hard would it be to put a 6 speed gearbox into my Coupe? Would the ECU need changing at all, since my Coupe is a manual?

lol, why would you even want a 6 speed gearbox in a d**k up excel with and FTO complex?
you need to come up with a car to get the gearbox from first...
sounds like an expensive idea for no good outcome.

Mmmm we were just talking about it at work when it was quiet, just wondering how it would work.

I am not 100% serious on doing this, but I would like to know whats involved.

Well, you need a gearbox to suit it, i don't remember the last 6 speed fwd i saw... maybe like a tiida or something?
Getting the gearbox is half the problem, then modifying it to fit. ECU shoudn't be a problem.

no offence... but at the end of the day it is still going to be a hyandai, if you want a 6 spd gear box i would recommend getting something that will actually be able to uterlise the extra gear. cause in an excel. i would chicken out before i would be able to put it into 6th gear...

I've had my toyota carolla up to 210km... and it was scary... scary to the point where i asked gavin to put the speed limiter back on...

and excels have a fair bit of go for there size...

LOL I cant find an y decent Hyundai Forums as good as this one!

Meh engines still work the same, most of the s**t is similair so why not. Plus there is more info from you guys then most other forums put together.

Im not a dreamer, I have no serious intention of doing this, I was just curious as to what it would involve! My god, how many times need I say that?

just do it the easy way.. get a BF XR turbo front cut and diff. use the gas axe to remove the front on the xcel, and attach the new front end and whack a diff in there for a RWD 6cyl turbo 6 speed XRcel Turbo.

now thats dreaming.

They are not a d**k up Excel, what were you thinking!

Just a d**k down Lantra, many parts swap between Lantra and coupe.

For s**t and giggles, why not go the full hog, instead of just a 6sp, why not V6 and 6sp out of a Hyundai Tiburon
