Thinking about going down this path (or getting billet axles - see other thread).
Anyone done it? Know where to get one done? Cost? Anyone got one they don't want? Any hints, tips, advice, comments appreciated. |

Didnt do it, but got quoted 5500 fitted with discs to accept the current ABS setup, billet axles and 3.9 strange gears by DiffTechnics in Sydney. Didnt do it as it was cheaper to fit a spool and 3.9's and it has held so far(including full NOS launch with slicks).

Thought about going down this path with mine! 2 things that put me off!
1. The are one of the heaviest and most power consuming diffs to turn cause of their structure! They are tuff but if power aint on ur side u will sure notice it! 2. Also 9 inchs are old technology! They been around for many many years! One thing that can happen if not done right is ya car will have the ride characterists of something of that era! Also added as above by terrosit ghia is the cost! 5500 is alot of dough to spend on a diff! End of the day 9 inchs are tuff but i know not everyone is swimming in cash! My 2 cents!? |

Ok, I somewhat agree with you, but saying your car will ride like something of that era is incorrect. The only thing you will do is increase unsprung weight, and running an alloy Strange carrier like I purchased will alleviate the problem. The problem with fitting a 9" is that the clearance for the watts link is tight, and because the rear of the case is further from the axle centerline than on the borg warner diff, your rear roll centres and watts set up suffer, unless completely re engineered. These days, there is do real benefit in running a 9" over a good set up 28 spline 4 pinion centre, or spool for the track, because failures are rare. What kills borg warner diffs is one wheel burnouts (peg legging) and huge clutch dumps, or off the grass onto the road. If the time comes that you have too much power for the borg warner, and continuosly break them, you will have enough spare cash about to buy the best alloy 9" on the market. Just my 2 cents..... |

This whole car didn't sell on Ebay, contact the seller to see if he still has it, $3000 buy now, it is a EB V8 with retrimed Ghia interior and 9" diff assembly.

I have a 9' to suit EA and EB series one for sale. It can go in later models but it would need EA bushes fitted to the upper control arms where they mount on the diff. It does not have the calipers or discs, but you can use the ones off your car. It has 28 spline axles, and I can supply a 2.77 open centre with it (not sure on condition) $650 ono. I might be able to arrange interstate transport if need be.

There isent really any use going 9inch unless ur making 380rwhp plus as the diff (borg worner) in the EF are tuff as. Im possibly going AU as i dont want hub adaptors on my car so i may be selling my complete diff in a fue weeks.

have to disagree if it was an old thing of old technology then why do all V8 supercars still run them???

V8 Supercars are a bad example of 'up to date' technology, not to mention that calling their diff a 9 inch is like calling their motor a windsor. Similar, but different.

They use off the shelf 9" gears, and full spools.....thats a 9" to me. |
