Hi everyone, I have just rebuilt my auto transmission and redone all motor seals + clean the gook out of the air inlets and now have developed a few problems
1. High Idle On start up idle speed sits at 1000 rpm Once in gear 'D' or 'R' idle speed rises to 1500rpm, I can throw the stick into neutral and the motor stays at 1500rpm for about 10s then back to 1000rpm 2. No Kick down, the auto is happy to run up and down through 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 and go through the manualised gears but no kick down 3. Small power loss Just trying to work through this problem, at the moment I am suspecting the problem to be the TPS (sending incorrect signal to ECU) previous to the rebuild a transmission oil cooler line popped off and I ran the tranny with no oil and lost C1 & C3 Clutches. not sure if this has anything to do with my current problem though anyone have any thoughts? Any help appreciated, Thanks Mike |

my first thought is tps,
as the eb v8 has 2 tps switches (1 for engine, 1 for transmission) try swap the plugs around and see what happens, after you swap them if your auto kicks back and your engine runs worse the tps is at fault.. |

That fixed it, the connector only looked like it was connected heh just had to push it back in
I have kick down but idle is still pretty high. still around 1500 rpm in drive gears, once in drive does the ECU automatically push up the idle? normal idle is still at 1000 rpm but I guess a few timing adjustments will get it back to 600, hopefully I'll try this tonight and post back Thanks TROYMAN |

Okay, all is back to normal
Putting in the TPS connectors fixed the transmission kick down problem Adjusting the timing and winding out the butterfly to close more fixed the high idle speed problem, got the idle purring at 650rpm. The car feels about 20% more powerful by cleaning the upper and lower inlet, cylinder ports and cleaning all the crap off the top of the pistons. Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem. again thanks TROYMAN Mike |
