Why did the ABS light come on after i'd done some burnouts in the AU XR8?

It went out after the car was switched off.

because its registering that your rear wheels are spinning but your fronts aren't. ABS is meant to stopthat form happening while driving. it'll register a fault in the system if they keep going.

Yeh after it's switched off. Someone mentioned if u pull the abs fuse it will stop it registering. But mayb then it'll record the fuse is being pulled every 3rd day!

Ebbes its just logging a temporary fault. The car doesnt know your doing burnouts, it just sees signals from the sensors which dont make sense and throws a fault code. It should be noted ABS is probably disabled whilst the ABS light is on.

So when you restart the car, ABS comp checks sensors and sees everything appears to be working.

If a sensor or something else is damaged the light will stay on everytime you start up.

Just pull the fuse when you do burnouts, then turn the car off once your done and put the fuse back in.

I can confirm that is true and correct.

I was ceremonially destroying a set of rear tyres (private road!) the night before I got the new ones fitted on my XH and the ABS light came on. Just to see what happened I hit the anchors hard on the way back home and the brakes locked up. Next morning ABS light was off and ABS was functioning normally.

If you think about it it makes sense since the car thinks that if rear wheels are turning at 50km/h and front wheels are stopped with brakes applied = locked front and no brakes at rear.
Probabily tries to ABS the front like mad and when it doesn't do anything it sets an error.
I wonder what would happen on a BA with electronic brake force distribution. Would probabily send all the brake force to the rear = less burnout!

There is nothing wrong with burnouts in a controlled, off road environment.

I dont agree with street burnouts (too often or insanely), but we live on rural properties with big big concrete and tar pads. Kids will be kids. & funny how our dads love gettin in on it too!

I was on a wet road and the rear wheels spinning profusely and I had no abs warning light come on.
Is it only active if the brake circuit is energised? If its on all the time then why didnt mine register as a fault?
