yes it can be added - stupid ford for removing them! - pretty sure most transmission shops can do them for pretty cheap - maybe source one from a wrecked EF I / early EF II? they'd bolt pretty much straight on...

Rumour has it the average Falcon owner was prone to filling the fragile BTR with engine oil. Pffft - stupid EL drivers.

As 4.9 EF Futura said it was removed to prevent people putting the wrong fluid in the trans and Ford deemed (doomed?) the transmissions to not require servicing at all.

These transmissions SHOULD be serviced every 20000 kms (Particularly if driven hard) and they have a chance of getting good life my old mans limo has 925.000 kms and only 1 gearbox change (because he put a hole in the pan going over a sharp driveway)

We all know they need it, but Ford doesn't think so....

Ahhh, touche! Lol Also I would imagine there was a lot of people filling the poor things up with Dexron III... which is nasty business if you've ever seen the resulting pics. Lol @ ford suggesting the BTR doesnt need servicing. Although i guess its good money for them having the dealerships replacing boxes no longer covered by warranty. Service and full flush is an annual celebration for me.

I heard it was cost cutting also, same with the lefthand door lock. I was "lucky" enough that the transmission place I use dropped my transmission on the floor when a weld on their jack broke, cracking the casing. Instead of welding the casing, they replaced it. I asked for a EF casing just so I could have a dipstick. In the end the transmission was fully rebuilt with new torque convertor, and they claimed it on their insurance.
