Ride: NC V8 FAIRLANE GHIA 220kw

Location: Auckland
New Zealand

Hi Everyone,

I have an NC Fairlane which had new shocks all round when I purchased it a few months ago. Currently it is getting a 220kw AU 3 v8 re cammed and installed.

I really would like to lower the vehicle but have 2 issues getting in my way.

1. I want to retain as close as possible to the comfort of the existing ride characteristics for cruising.

2. I'm a wheelchair user so it will be VERY DIFFICULT for me to transfer in and out of the vehicle lowered. It's hard enough now with the assistance of a carer. If we use a hoist to lift me in, the feet of the hoist need to fit under the car. (My wheelchair seat height sits much higher than the car seats)

Are there any other options except airbags?

Appreciate any advice or solutions.

Thanks :)

If you lower the vehicle, one of the first things you lose is ride quality, as the spring/dampers are operating at a shorter distance, hence the stoke will be shorter, thus the damping needs to be stronger. Really the only way to retain the ride quality is to use lowered spindles. But these are horribly expensive, and I wouldn't even be sure they are available.

One assumes you mean airbags to lift the height of the car. This means you will need special suspension, and compressors, and a mint to produce the cash to do this. (estimate $2,000.00) which is waaaayyy beyond the worth of the car..................

My advice would be to buy SUV thingy and go from there..................
