hey ALL,

I got a quote for a 3.45 lsd upgrade on my EA. The guy said the 3.45 wont feel any difference between that and the stock 3.23 and to go for the 3.9. He said with the 3.9 lsd, it would cost $1850. Does this sound alright?

definatly would not pay 1850 for 3.9's..

should be able to get new ones for about 1200.

I got a quote from G & J Diffs in Dandenong, brand new 3.73/3.9 gears fitted with new seals etc - $1100. But mines already LSD. I'd try them.

Umm - is this a drag car?? Is it Auto or Manual??

I have a 3.9 LSD in my XR8 (which cost me $850 from Craft Diffs in Granville), and I would not recommend it unless you have a 6 speed - unless you dont mind cruising at 4000 on the highway.

If this is a daily driver, I wouldnt go higher than a 3.45. - and yes - you WILL notice a difference.
Try a wrecker first - you might be able to pick up an XR6 diff for a couple of hundred.

exactly ... you will notice te differnce..sure it aint gonna be insane but it is still noticeable....the dude is takin ya for a ride dude...1850 is way too much. And 3.9s in a daily driver wouldnt be a good option unless you do do a fair few track/strip days

sweet, i'd probably go the 3.45's then, I thought 3.9 sounded a bit excessive. And it its all street car atm. (4spd auto btw)

i had 4.11's in my everyday driver for about a year....now its got 3.45's...it was heaps more responsive with the 4.11's...i could really tell the differnce when they were changed as well....now im gonna keep the 3.45 and buy a nos kit instead, that way ill have the responsiveness at the flick of a switch, whilst still remaining good fuel ecomony...
