Hi guys, my AU Auto shifts 1st to 2nd fine but will not go 3rd to 4th. Reverse is good and it's full of new oil.

sounds like it is limp home mode

have you done anything to the trany?
does the spedo work?
do the reverse lights work>

Limp Home Mode is 3rd gear.

Sounds like you have a solenoid issue.

Thanks for the help guys. Yes, it's definitely only shifting 1st to 2nd, but no further. I have replaced the solenoids thinking this could be the problem but I can't try it because now the auto can't be physically shifted up and down manually! Linkage is fine, removed that. Something in the box is physically stopping me being able to change gears. EG. reverse the car down the road, but can't pull the shifter down to pop it in drive and head off. What could be going on here??

It could be that the gearbox is only engaging into 2nd when you put it in drive. If you select 2nd gear the car will start off in 1st and then shift up to 2nd.

Have a look underneath and check you linkage.
