Also anyone know any place in melbourne that do conversions on Au's

much the same as earlier cars, dont know if u can fool a AU ECU though, will have to find manual ECU. Also not sure if u can just swap ECU's around like earlier cars

Biggest issue is finding a AU box, and all the other bits. AU box has longer extension housing apparently. Macarthur parts here in NSW do kits but i think its around the 2 grand mark, maybe more

Thanks for the replies guys...

Now from what you were saying Frank an ef/el box might fit if i buy the extension housing. If thats the case wont the ef/el v8 gear box fit it fine in it as i know they are longer than the i6 gearbox.........

Thoughts

About the ECU. If you were to get a Manual ECU. Your car won't start. You will need to get it towed to Ford so they can program it, to match with your BEM.

And yes, you can fool the ECU, just like the E-Series by soldering the circuits.

As old_mate said, the AU V8 and I6 boxes, had different gears, and input shaft lengths, flywheels, clutches.. You can get around this by getting a modified input shaft from Mal Wood.

As for the Pedal Box, you can get a Clutch Pin Adapater from Mal Wood, to bolt onto your Auto Pedal Box.

If I were you, I'd try and get a proper AU box, instead of mixing and matching.

I know of a guy that has a AU XR6 box, flywheel, all that jazz, for $900 in VIC.

He's just selling the box and some parts for $900. Of course, you'd need some little parts... Maybe a new clutch if you want it new. New oil.

I've actually contacted the guy, and shot gunned the pedal box and ecu. I'll let you know what he says. But if he does have that, then i'll be buying it. So then you'll need to source another pedal box, or get the clutch pin adapter, and do the ECU trick, or track down another ECU.

As to pay someone for Labour, theres not too many people around. It's Performance in NSW, will install a manual gear box for $400. Otherwise, you could get some mechanical mates to help you.

So on top of the $900, your looking at another $600-800. To include, labour, gear knob, gear boot, cable, oil, pedal box. And then more, if you want a new clutch, etc etc...

Cheers
