I have AUIII V8 ute with standard lsd diff. looking to change standard 3.45 ratio to a sedan standard 3.23 ratio(correct me if im wrong with ratios).
Im trying to reduce engine rpm at 110kph buy only 200-250rpm(2000rpm @ 110kph) to gain extra fuel mileage as do mainly country driving.
Anyone know were i could purchase diff gears from?

Are you sure you have 3.45's? I thought only xr's had that ratio, anyway my ef pulls 2100rpm at 100km/h with 3.23 & 5 speed.

you might be right kato, ute is doing 2050rpm@ 100kph in 5th and 2250rpm @ 110kph. So probably already 3.23 ratio. Is there a lower standard ratio, maybe from an auto falcon ?

My AUII XLS I6 auto uses a 3.23:1 and revs around what you are revving in top gear.

I think the V8s just got LSD in the 3.23:1

If you get under the back of the ute ... and look for a label to the right side of the diff ... on the axle housing .... you might have to clean it ... it will tell you the factory gear ratio on it.

What economy are you getting at the moment on the highway ... the 8s should do fairly well ... especially the manuals

i THINK you could run 3.08's out of an EF-EL base model???

at one stage i had 2 run 2.77's behind my 4 speed...... the highway economy was amazing..... sitting on about 1600 at 110km/h bit less i think i was running about 5-6L per 100.

the only writing - is the tag on the fill plug which reads, LSD High Performance, approved buy ford motor company.
fuel econ is 10.5l/100k @ 105kph,
at 110kph to 115kph its 12.5l/100kms :x

the label should be about in the middle between the diff pumpkin and the drivers side tyre - will be a yellow label

btw my auto with 3.45 sits at 1950 approx at 100km/hr
