Not long by the look of that. Get it out as soon as you can and either repair and reinforce it or replace it with a strengthened pedal box.

It only takes 20 mins to pull them out.
Most certainly not worth selling a car over.

all depends on "how" you want to fix it
do you have a mig welder? one way is to put a plate around clutch cable pipe & weld them together [being VERY careful coz of material on inside of firewall] or make up a plate to fit with a small section of tube [matching size AND angle] this is what i did a few years ago & just riveted it in [on outside] as couldn't be farrked removing everything to weld it in also check ya mounting point for the clutch pedal just to be sure also - how long will it last like that?? ... unknown BUT you will have problems changing gears which WILL get worse the more the "tear" tears .... |

i decided to cut out a bit of the firewall and have a look and i found this looks to be a bit of 2-3mm steel thats been welded.. but if i press the clutch in it still flexes so i dont think its sufficient.
so we had a thinnk of maybe putting some more steel. or would it be worth doing it on the inside and then bolting it in place?

no it didn't look like that [was EA] so not sure on EL [?]
1st immpression is no - someone has repaired yours at some time?? this is how the EB of mine looks i made a bracket to fit inbetween the booster & the firewall join to the right [troyman/benj come to mind re making a bracket?] as too - Quote: it actually doesn't flex it pulls inwards this car confuses me!! thats how it was designed to work ... if you look at the pic below looking at the pedal ... pushing on the pad makes the rod at the top move towards you pulling both cables [inner/outer] towards you as well, hence the firewall pulling inwards |
