Did a search and couldnt find what I needed.
How can I adjust the handbrake on my AU1 sedan? At the moment it just pulls right up and doesnt hold the car. Thanks guys.

you have to pull the back wheels off and adjust the park brake on the rotors. You also have to back off the adjustment on the handbrake and undo the handbrake retention bolts on the floor.
I brought a manual to do mine. When I get a chance tomorrow I will post the pages up for you unless someone else does it in the meantime.

normally 6 to 8 clicks on the handbrake as you pull it up should be all you need to bring max tension on the cable and this is usually achive by adjusting the toothed wheel inside the rear disc on both sides of the car
this is behind the rubber stopper and done with a small flat screwdriver. If you haven't done this before and you keen to see what its all about you can easily remove the caliper bracket and use a impact phillips screwdriver to remove the big screw on the front of the disc and then the disc should come of without too much drama if your handbrake cable is already loose. (also in the off position) IF you adjust the toothed wheel too much and spread the shoes out too far you wont be able to put the disc back on, in this case just back it off until you can get it back on and this will be pretty close for a good handbrake range, remember to do both rears. |
