I was reading an earlier post on AU front suspension into EF where macxr8 mentioned fitting AU IRS into EF/EL. This is a conversion that I have been considering for some time but haven't had the opportunity to get an AU and EF together to do some measuring. I know that the IRS subframe bolts into the same mountings as the beam axle on AU, would it also bolt into the beam axle mountings on EF, assuming that the EF and AU floorpans are similar? macxr8, if it is possible could you outline what was involved? Please.

Thanks for that. Overall, it doesn't look to be too difficult. Photos are a bit blurry but I get the idea. It looks like the rear subframe mounting brackets were the hardest part. You talk about using the watts linkage panelling instead of cutting off the ends - I'm not sure what you mean?
Once again though, thanks for the info.

you need to remove the watts link paneling and reweld in the IRS one

IRS is way worse for Launching!
That's why datto's struggle!

When the a*** end sqatts the tyres roll on their sides! not good for takeoff!

Low profile tyres help, and going up 2 sizes in rims also help. I wasn't really interested in launching, was after better handling which I have acheived. Car is much more stable over bumpy surfaces, on smooth surfaces there would be SFA in it. Also going from a single spinner to LSD has also helped
