Hi,

Have just purchased series 1 AU Fairmont 5.0.

Brakes were inadequate, so I have fitted slotted rotors and Bosch pads. Car stops much better, but still not as well as I would like.

Is there an upgrade to improve braking in series 1 AU? Rotors are small, on these cars.

Any help appreciated,

Regards Simon

You can install AU series 2/3 brakes into and AU series 1.
A few more other things have to be changed also.

Do a search,
I recall of about 3-4 people doing this as the AU1's have crap brakes.

have u changed the brake fluid as well? that can have a marked improvement on feel as well
next step is braided lines

if u still want more u will have to upgrade to Au2 brakes
which means

au2 calipers, pads, rotors upright and lower control arms
and the au2 front anti roll bar

Thanks, I'll do the fluid next, but I think S2 S3 upgrade is on the cards.

I don't drive it that fast, but would like to have some stopping power there if needed,

IF not try to get the S1 T-series Stub axles because then you can put the S2 brakes on your car and they can sit at the back.

If your planning to go s2 or 3 then you may aswell go ba brakes, apparently the uprights are exactly the same as au 2 and 3 so im guessing they will fit on the s1. Plus they are cheap as chips.
