hello
First of all I would like to thank everyone for all the awesome advice and info on this forum. This is only my 2nd post and already getting help from all the good folk out there. I have recently bought an AU ll wagon with around 101,000 km off an old bloke who has owned the car since new. It is in awesome condition except the usual things that wear out and f@#k up with age (rooflining sagging, few stone chips).Well I have a problem with the front end of my Falcon,it has picked up this bad clunk/thud noise when going over bumps,I've put the car on a hoist and went to town with an 18mm deep socket to tighten up rack mount to x member and every other bolt and nut that felt loose.I've checked ball joints, tie rod ends etc.The noise has progessively getting worse day by day to the point it feels like the front end is gonna fall off.Could there be a chance my struts are stuffed or my steering rack has some play in it that I couldn't pick up. I was wondering if this was a common problem on AU's and if anyone has had this issue and knows what it could be. I dont wanna go to Pedder's and be told that every rubber, ball joint, link pin etc. needs to be replaced. Any help would be awesome.

Not the Sway Bar links? Usually wear out. Cheap and easy to do too.

I had that clunking noise, it was the swaybar mount bushes. Seems to be common in AU's.

my au just had a clunk a few weeks ago and was the swaybar linkages, but on an au there not as cheap. there a ball joint on either end of it and can flog out.
