Can someone tell me the difference in length between the auto and manual AU tailshafts?
Its the ute that Im interested in but I guess the live axle sedan would be different by the same length. The manual box is longer than the auto so I need to have my auto tailshaft shortened but not sure how much. I could measure the boxes but it doesnt seem to be the most accurate way to do it because of their shape. |

Auto shaft definitely doesnt fit. It bottoms out before you can get the tailshaft flange onto the diff flange.
I got one from a manual V8 and that fits fine. |

hey, when i headed down this path, i borrowed a manual shaft (compliments of ebxr82nv) for test purposes and placed it against my auto one and the manual is slightly shorter by about 40mm. having a balancer doesnt make any difference as i have one of those from ash and considered it in the test! if u have an alloy shaft, i went and seen national driveshafts at beresfield and they said it would be cheaper to have a steel one made with the same diameter an alloy shaft(ie; an oversized steel shaft = stronger).
its entirely up to you but these were my results as i found it is impossible to find a manual shaft and new from FRAUD they cost 1400!!!!!!!!!!!!! hope this helps anyone
