hey all

just ordered some king springs off ebay.

As per the king springs catlogue, i ordered "KFFL-57SL+", but i've just received the springs and they have sent me "KFFL-57SL" ....without the"+"

when i looked at the king's catlogue, i noticed the suffix '+" means

Quote:
+ STRONGLY RECOMMEND MONROE GT SPORT SHORTENED SHOCK ABSORBERS WITH SHORTENED BUMPSTOPS BE FITTED WITH THIS PART NUMBER

Are there any difference between these springs, and can anyone confirm they will lower my Au xr ute about 30-40mm?

The + sign only means you should use shorter stroke shocks with those springs due to how short they are.

That part number KFFL-57sl is a superlow, so about 40-50mm drop over stock height.

If I remember correctly from the printed catalog at work, Low is around 30mm lower than stock, Super Low goes another 10-20mm and Ultra another 10-20mm.

Superlow should be about 40-50mm lower than stock springs, give or take, depending on vehicle weight(options fit, ie, stereo, LPG, sunroof, full size spare wheel yada yada).

Cheers

ok cool, thanks for that!

as per the king springs catalogue, the only "low" option for AU UTE XR SERIES is "KFFL-57SL+"
the "superlow" option has the same code.

ultralow is "KFFL+57SSL+"

I also found a pdf catalogue from 2006. The code for AU UTE XR SERIES was "KFFL-57SL"

The reason the only "low" option is a superlow spring for the XR spec ute is because from the factory, they are lowered to around the same height as a Kings Low spring. IE about 30mm from a standard Forte model height. To lower further would mean a drop to superlow height.

I'm pretty sure it's the same story for all the Xr6/8 car's all the way back to EB S Xr models (which I happen to own 2 Eb S Xr8's).

It's funny the way kings name their springs, all the S, SL & SSL don't always mean low, super & ultra, no matter what most young guys think these days.

Cheers

What's your current ride height? I installed King Lows on the front of my ute and the ride height is 350mm now. I think the standard ride height is about 390mm.
