Wondering what type/brand of oil people recommend using in my AU V8 LSD diff?
I looked through the service history of my ute but there is no mention of the diff oil being changed at any time so I think it might be best if I changed it.

I used the nulon Full synthetic stuff in the el. It worked fine. The thicker oil apparently helps worn out lsds work like New

My diff has a bit of backlash...Only noticable when the car is idleing then shifting from Park to Drive or Park to Reverse. Other than that it's fine. No whining. I'm thinking the diff might be a little worn so I might have to run some thicker LSD oil.

I've run nothing but Castrol LSX90 for years. My LSD's have failed due to 'Excessive spirited testing'

That sounds more like a worn uni than backlash.

I tried a few things earlier this morning and I've found that if I change from Park to Drive or Park to Reverse with the handbrake on it doesn't clunk. Also, It only clunks occassionally, Mainly before the car reaches proper operating temperature.

Redline 75W140 is the bees knees for Falcon LSDs. Good for reducing or eliminating diff noise, and can tighten up a borderline LSD.

What would be the oil capacity for the AU ute LSD? I'm guessing something like 1.5 litres?

1.6L IIRC. So pretty close. IRS is 1.8L.

With the Nulon SAE 90 LSD oil it says...
Ford ESW-FM2C-1006A/B,
ESW-M2C-104A/105A/108A/119A,
SM-2C-1013A

But in the AU III glovebox service guide booklet it recommends ESZ-M2C190-A.
Would the Nulon SAE 90 still be okay to use in my V8 LSD?

I changed the diff oil in the ute before...It was real black so I'm guessing it had never been changed before.
I ended up using Penrite Pro Gear 80W-140.
