15's will only fit if you have AU1 Brakes. Otherwise, 16's are the smallest you can fit.

I'd go for 17s, 17x8 and 17x9 are pretty easy to come by, plus tyres for them are very cheap.
In all honesty going from 15 with 205/65s, 17s with 235/45 and now 18s with 245/40s, there is very little difference in ride quality... 40psi in the 15s, 45 in the 18s. |

I really cant see why you couldn't use 15's as the EA/EB/ED/EF/EL had the same calipers? I guess they may stick out a little?

Hey Ash, I'd try to avoid 14" wheels now days, the tyres are quite dear, and they would be extremely dear in that width (even though they wouldn't fit an AU) 14's a not a mass production wheel and more and 15's nearly aren't either... My original snowflakes of my ED were 7" rims and I was running 225's on them and looked very nice from back on (although not as good as a 345 but I couldn't afford that, or get rims to take it)... In a small wheel, without spending a fortune on something unique, I couldn't imagine you'd get much wider than a 7" in a 15 maybe a 7.5" in a 16? (not familiar with 16's) as these are pretty run of the mill... Good luck with the search, gotta protect them kidneys...

I suppose each to their own hey?
Don't know what other factors contribute to it... The road quality, driver style, tyre make up? Not sure 100% there...

Either that or go something similar to the 4wd type thing... Put some std height gear in it (if not already?) and some softer springs, or if they don't make them load it up with some extra weight (and unfortunately extra fuel costs) but might make it cruise over the bumps better?

Sounds like a fun road if it'd be smoother...
Yeah the way 4wd's cruise over crap roads is funny... and unloaded 4wd is as rough as all guts (I notice between the work hilux's and the inlaws unloaded hilux)... But not always adding weight to a sedan helps... the suspension in a 4wd is that stiff it takes heaps of weight to get it to work... and when it does work its great...
