my mate is converting his xr8 ute to manual, he got the flywheel back from the machinist today and there are big crack in it. so first question is, are ef/el v8 flywheels the same? what about the i6 flywheel?
second question is can you use an auto tailshaft instead of sourcing a manual one? if not, which other models have the same length tailshaft as the ute? wagon? fairlane? any difference between live axle and irs?
cheers

you can use a flywheel from eb-au v8.. unfortunately the 6 cyl ones are different and the v8 ones are counter balanced where the 6 cyl ones are neutral balanced..

no for the tailshaft as well, auto tailshaft is about 2" longer than manual..
so it would have to be from a manual ute afaik..
im not sure if au utes are considered long wheel base, but you wont find a manual fairlane shaft coz there is non. maybe a manual 6 cyl station wagon might fit?? otherwise you should be able to use a 6 cyl ute shaft though.. or get a custom one made...
