G'day there guys.
Does anyone know about fitting the AU2 upper control arms, brake callipers, rotors, nuckels ect (the whole corner) into an EL ? Without lower arms of course. Do they fit straight over or do i need to do some mods or fit any extra bits ? Thanks for your help Rodney |

No way of fitting just the uprights and upper control arms.
The lower control arm is totally different and the uprights wont fit without it. the only way to make it work is to fit an AU subframe as SWC pointed out. Better off buying an AU. Much better car all around.

Based on that fact my Mum is the best around! |

Could always grab a 330mm brake upgrade.
Nearly the same, just... not... the same. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FALCON-BIG-BRAKES-FITS-EA-EL-330-MM-BRAKES-XR6-XR8-/170806167551?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27c4d747ff#ht_1983wt_1031

Thank you. its a big job requiring modifications to the chassis, welding, adding of locating studs, crush tubes ect. which will need engineering once done.. there are a couple of members that have done it.. "bbq burner" "macxr8" there is another member but i cant remember his name... |

I've done it too. however i don't think i'd pay someone to do it, the money would be better spent just getting a decent brake upgrade to suit the current front end. if you can DIY, its a cheap upgrade that opens up a lot of options in the future.

honestly if your wanting to pay someone to do the au k frame and brake conversion, i think your up for a few thousand dollars, otherwise i would go to race brakes sydney and buy there brake upgrade for the el... probably work out cheaper than paying someone to do chassis modifications and engineering to take the au suspension...

I've been thinking the cost would be a fair bit & i'm open to potions so i'm trying to get a price on everything before i start spending on this mod.
I'd like to go to a 297mm/32mm disc if possible and what do you think about just fitting the upper AU2 control arms onto the EL ? Race brakes Sydney have good stuff but i'm still very interested about doing something about my control arms and hubs ! Thanks man for writing |

the au upper arm can physically fit the body, but the au upright wont bolt to the el lower control arm at all.. and the au lower arm wont fit either... once you see both suspension set ups side by side you will see how different the au is....
the race brake kit is 330mm, much better than std au... |

I know, the ball joints are located in the control arms in the AU2 setup If only i could get those bloody stub axles in ! oh well !
I would go 330mm but but i want to stick with 15" rims so 300mm is probably the biggest i can go :/ |
