Hey guys,

Have an AUII XR6, 5 speed. Its making a clicking noise in 1st and 2nd, then in 3rd its like a helecopter which resonates on the whole body, and then clicking noise again for 4th and 5th gear. Is this the sound of a dead gearbox?... it sounds like its coming from the front of the box/back of the engine. It's the misses car and has pretty minimal noise.

Any suggestions guys?

Much appreciated.

Thanks, Ross.

top up the oil and add more sound deadening :P

Mines fairly noisy but doesn't click or resonate. Wouldn't hurt to also check the driveline.

if the box is that bad you could buy a better one second hand for half the price of reconditioning, note this is only cheap at the time. Half the money = half the gearbox. Also the more worn the box the more to reco = more cost.
