I'm on my third auto in nearly 10 years. The original lost reverse like yours, about 200,000km, $2200 to replace.
I blew another one just before Christmas at only 140,000km, driven smoothly all it's 7 year life with TWO coolers. Lost 4th out on the highway, then 2nd the next day. It had cracked some sort of large metal circular plate in the oil pump area. Nothing else to do but rebuild it. Cost $1900 this time. I think once these things go, it's rebuild time. I have noticed that they gradually shift harder as they wear out. Mike

In the last 5 months that ive spent on mods, then add up what THIS is gonna cost me..... i couldve sold this car and bought a f**k AU Fairlane/Fairmont Ghia, or a BA/BF And theres no guarantee you wouldnt get similar or worse problems with an AU or BA. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't...

i know it gets really complicated but it is possible to do the rebuild yourself
i have done one before with some help from a friend i was looking at doing mein when i do my enigne rebuild have a look at this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0350957234 that comes with all the seals gaskets clutches/bands most of the common parts that should have all the parts to fix your problem but im not sure if you get a good auto rebuild manual and know a friend that can help its worth a go

If you can get a similar tranny for a few hundred and start from scratch then do it that way man. Sommers box can go back to where it came from. Wasn't it driven quite hard for a while anyway? Listen mate, I've been speaking to Dan, how about now you keep your big mouth out of it okie?
