The auto box in my 6 cyl EL is starting to get pretty tired. It slips just before it changes from 2nd-3rd. I serviced it about 9 months ago, full flush and a new filter, and it seemed to help it, but now the flare is back. It is only when the car is warmed up, and usually while driving around town.
Is there any sort of additive that can help reduce flare/slip? I know it's just really bandaid-ing the problem, but I don't have the time or cash to swap the gearbox at this point in time. Has anyone had any success with an additive to an auto gearbox in regards to my problem? Cheers, Benno.

FordFairmont wrote: resistor shift kit I thought of that...doesn't it increase the line pressure so it shifts faster/'harder'? It might be worth a go, I can fabricate one up pretty easy. uniacidz wrote: AFAIK, no cheap fix. Could do a ebay thingy and pick one up and work on it til current dies. I've got a T5 waiting back at home, and I will have the cash to get the rest of the parts and put it in quicker than I thoguht I would, so I might just have to hack it until then. Cheers fellas.
