hey guys
im looking at a used BA XR6T to buy....just not sure whether to go an auto or manual? I'd be driving in sydney peak hour every day so I think a manual might give me the s**t after a while but its so much more fun...but the tiptronic can be fun too! Whats the better box? I plan on doing a few mods also and thinking about the APS Phase 2 kit... Thanks!

If you could hold off a bit longer and get a BF with the 6speed auto, that would be the pick.
I haven't driven a Manual XR6T, but the auto is nice. Although my old man get's a bit manual-stagic whenever he has a spin in my Sprint, and wishes he had of got the Manual BA... Personal preference really. Both have pros and cons.

A manual in traffic is not that bad! You get used to it so quickly that all gear changes are automatic (ie, you don't have to think about it.). Get the manual, so much more fun.

I'd agree and say buy the BF 6 speed auto. Not only does it have an extra couple of gears and a shorter first gear ratio (about bloody time!!!), but the things got an extra 5kw (wow) and 30nm (nice). If the budget can only stretch to a BA series one, I'd buy the auto. If it's a series 2, grab the 6 speed manual. The only fault with the BA XR6 Turbo auto is that its a touch sluggish off the line (up to about 30-40 kays anyway), however kickdown at 80 kays is absolutley brutal. Manual or auto, they both have their strengths and weaknesses. Plus the sequential mode in the auto is a briliant thing to use.
