Am thinking about replacing my gearbox with a newly rebuilt auto, but im not sure which way i should go

Ive got a quote of a rebuild not including solenoids $1000, or a full rebuild inc solenoids $1450

Now ive got an auto lying here that came out of an EF in an unknown condition that i could get fully rebuilt for $1450. Downside is the gearbox itself is 13 years old.

Or i could fork out $300 for an AU box, and get that rebuilt for $1000, but leave the original solenoids and hope they will be ok. Upside is the box itself is only 9 years old.

Which way should i go...... both will be a similar price?

id go the EF one, even if it is 13 years old and 4 years older than the AU one, when its fully rebuilt it should be good as new as long as the gearbox itself (housing and all etc) is in okay condition plus there wont be any guessing with old solenoids. That would save you having to spend extra for an AU box and hoping that the solenoids are up to the task if an AU one was to be rebuilt. Either way the benefits cancel each other out lol but thats my opinion anyways..

i think ill find myself in a similar situation soon, with either getting the box in the car rebuilt or buy another one and get that rebuilt
