I've booked my EL Fairmont wagon in to get the transmission serviced....It will cost me $170 for a full flush, New filter, Pan gasket and fresh oil. Does that price sound good?
I've had the car for a little over a year and don't know the service history so thought it might be wise to get the transmission serviced before anything starts to play up.

Sounds good to me. Filter/gasket = $20ish and auto fluid...maybe $50 (including disposal of old fluid). 1 to 1.5 hour labour? Not sure how long it really takes to do a transmission service...never had one done to the auto :?

Well done, some preventative maintenance happening. Price sounds good. go with it. It is so much CHEAPER to get things serviced than repaired as well.

Picked the car up from the mechanics just before...Drives beautifully and shifts nicely too. The old oil and filter were a little dirty so it was definately overdue for a service.
Funny thing is the car wouldn't start when I went to drive home, Apparently they cleaned the bottom of the transmission and some water got into the dizzy. They popped the cap and sprayed some WD-40 in there and she fired up nicely. (They also fixed a slow leak for free too which was nice of them).

Pitstop Automotive here in Merbein....Highly recommended for top quality service.

Worth getting them to inspect the bush in the back of the housing. They can wear & weep a bit over time
