You are stuck with the tall 1st gear if you want to stay Auto. 3.45:1 LSD will help or convert to 5 speed manual.

+1 on this. Although, I converted because my auto was FUBAR.

Also some people may suggest a 2800 rpm stall converter.

would 4.11s make it rev to high on the highway? speedo issue? other than that i am considering that option and also can you dumb down what a hi stall does? thanks

Assuming you have 3.08:1 diff gears at the moment, you would be doing 1800 rpm in top gear at 100km/h. 4.11's would be around 2500 at 100 km/h.

With the high stall, they take it apart and remove some of the fins to give it more slip so that it has to be doing a higher rpm to 'take up the slack'. This way the engine is closer to it's peak torque at take off.

Also this would cause the speedo to over read as the tail shaft is rotating faster for a given speed. You would need to change the speedo drive gear. Not sure if they make them for that ratio though. 3.45's would give a noticeable kick in the pants.

For 3.9:1 I think you use the XF speedo transducer from memory.

Diff gear will set you back from $200.00 2nd hand to $600.00+ new, then you need to have them installed + LSD = another $700.00 - $1000.00. Anywhere from $900 to $1600 plus. Ring around a few Diff Specialists and get some prices.

4.11's would be overkill. 3.73 would be a better choice for a daily. 3.45's are too close to a 3.23 to make enough of a difference.

If you drive on alot of 100+ roads 4.11's would be a bit too short. Mine with 3.9's is a little short for the freeways.
