Will this work or is it too higher resistance?????? Anything between 6.5kohm-7.6kohm should be okay. Measure your resistor with a meter before using, as the tolerance might tip it above or below these figures. Go for a 6.8kohm resistor - they're a common value. As for wires - the Neutral safety switch has 4 wires: -starter solenoid, earth -two wires for resistance The colours are normally the main clue - black for earth, etc. A meter and some simple tests usually sort it out without too much hassle.

OK....solved it....the purple and purple/white are on the g'box harness side, not the engine bay harness side. On the engine bay harness side there is a purple and a black/white.
The purple/white lines up with black/white.

How do we go about the netral switch? I've bridged the two purple wires but I still have to have it in nuteral to start it, (I'm using a manual ECU) Can I short the nuteral switch or has it got somthing to do with the computer?

if your running a manual ecu you dont need to bridge anything. the auto loom plugs in to the round plug and rectangle plug in the engine bay where as the manual only uses the rectangle plug and round plug remains empty. the rectangle plug should have wiring to the speedo drive plug and then 4 others, 2 to neutral switch and 2 to your reverse light switch. read the tech doc and it talks tyou though stripping the auto loom back and cut out the "manual loom" for use.

just to add my 2 cents worth, my mpfi conversion running an auto ecu I had to use 2.5K ohm resistor between pin 30 and 46 to get it between 2.9 and 3.1 volts ( neutral) at the ecu......just read another post and seems 7Kohm puts it at PARK voltage which is probably the same horse different paddock.

Yea pretty much.. it is always best to check the voltage at the ecu after fitting the resistors..just to make sure... |

My 2 cents, I did the resistor thing and it worked but since a j3 chip was cheap and it's easy to find a manual ECU bin, I just "converted" my ECU to manual. That way everything worked like a stock manual without having to manually configure everything. At the time, what bothered me was the fact that the auto ECU has a torque truncation table (for autos) in it which I read reduces torque at some stage. I can't remember now, but I don't have to worry about it anymore..
