i am thinking of getting a borg transmission reconditioned as i have 1 lying around home to fit to my xf does anyone have any idea how much this would cost, do you think it would be cheaper to just try and get an already recoed tranny
were the fmx transmissions better

is it a C4 or C10, there isnt much diffence anyways, i had a C4 rebuilt about 2 years ago. i phoned around for a stage 1 rebuild and the price varied from $400-$600 depending on what type of bands and clutches you wanted.

i am not sure its an xf i thought they only used one borg warner one in this model as the c4 was used previouly i would say it is the c10 if i am incorredt some one please correct me as this will help me out

Wasn't the XF fiited with a borg warner 51? same as the 3 speed EAs?

cost me $800 for a rebuild of a 3 speed XF auto gearbox, that was around 8 years ago.

i forgot to mention before that the cost was only to supply and not fit, saved around $300 doing it myself.

the xf's got the borg warner 40 transmission
its basically the same as a 51, just has a smaller sungear in it here in aus they generally cost about 500 to rebuild depends on where you go though |

just got it priced they said without them pulling it out of the car 700 to 800
with pulling it out 800 to 900

all you need is a trolley jack to sit it on or you maybe able to hire the correct transmission jack from some hire place. did mine on my own, the only thing you gotta watch for is the torque converter sliding off when removing as its full of fluid.

C4's were used in XD and earlier 302's (not sure about XE's) as well as some police/taxi 6 cylinder falcons
C10's were a beefed up C4 for 351's FMX's were a bigass cast iron case auto from big block and 351 powered cars XF's had Borg-Warner 35 and 40 series auto's, 35's behind carby engined models, the EFI's got the 40
