ok im having a little trouble with the ole 4 sp. the car goes through 1,2 but stays in 3rd and wont go into Drive. a few times ive kicked it down and its flown all the way to 5500 rpm in a matter of seconds! the shifts feel like there is a big mofo shift kit in there cos they are rough as. im thinking maybe low fluid? or could it be something more worse?(expensive) any ideas/input welcome

Kezz

the bastard is still playing up, wont go into 4th and the kickdown is still pretty much non existant but when it comes on all hell breaks loose.

checked the tranny level and it seems abit low, did it about 4 times. the fluid is still a reddy colour but im colour blind and it could be burnt. oh yeh and there seems to be a leak somewhere cos there its all wet looking underneath the tranny dipstick as well as the box when im underneath it. any ideas of the source of leak or reason why its going crap?

Sounds like it's in limp home mode .... stays in 3rd when in D and locks out 4th.

Take it to a tranny place ... sounds like it might not last that 2 or so weeks for the manual either.

grrr found the prob. the bands are stuffed meaning i have no 2nd or 4th gear. first the solenoid went apparently, then because i drove it hard the bands shat themselves. 850 + job most likely. oh well bring on the t5!
