when i had the 3.9 gears in the ea with 25 spline axles, the axles got twisted to the stage that they hadn't broken yet but i couldn't get them back in the centre,to use the car to get new axles...with 27 spline axles in my el,would this axle twisting be more or less likely??

you mean 28 spline in the el?

The 28 spline axles are a lot thicker and stronger than the 25's

much less likely

28's are 4mm thicker at the splines from memory. Also easy to see just by looking at them that the 28's are a lot chunkier.

also, the more splines you have the shallower they are, and the less the cross section of the axle is affected.

EG an axle 40mm in diameter will be stronger with 28 splines than with 25
